Carolling Charis

Christmas was a week ago, but we're still singing Christmas carols to Charis. And she has developed the liking of 'joining us' in the singing-by vocalising very loudly and sharply. =) Here's a picture of one such 'carolling' session.

Pack.Send.Store.Give.Throw

Words that we defined today...finally, we can use a 'common language' to understand what we mean.

In the midst of packing, everything was 'pack' to me. To Roger, there were sub-catagories. There were a few instances of miscommunication here and there, and Roger initiated a glossary of 'packing' words... (aka PSSGT)

Pack-To put aside and bring with us on the day of departure

Send-To put into boxes to ship over to Sydney

Store-To put into boxes to leave inside our store room

Give-To pass over to others or the Salvation Army

Throw-To be disposed of

We've been PSSGT-ing late into the night. It is especially so cos Charis would be asleep and that frees the both of us to pack. Usually in the day, Roger would have to pack on his own and I can only chip in when she naps.

With all the packing and shipping things over, reality is setting in. *Gasp* WE ARE REALLY LEAVING?! I have been feeling excited, apprehensive, nostalgic, tired all at the same time.

God willing, 9 days more..

Park No Can

May Hsin had her first parking refresher lesson with her dad 2 days ago. Armed with her late grandma's tongkat (walking stick), they practiced at the nearby car park. Her dad placed the tongkat at the corner of the parking lot and with a few basic instructions, MH tried to park the car. After several tries, the car either ended up too near the tongkat or too far from the tongkat. Her dad tried demonstrating it to her, but she still didn't get it.

Dad: When you see the tongkat at the left passenger window, you stop the car and turn the steering wheel.

MH: Turn how much?

Dad: ..... Don't know lah, just feel, look, estimate and turn lor.... I can't tell you turn how much.

After another few frustrating attempts, dad's face turned black and tired.

Dad: Ok, ok...we'll do this another day...

The Letter Came!

SMBC has sent the letter of acceptance this week. We're going to start packing soon! It's quite hard to imagine that we'll leave next month, but we are trying to meet up with friends and family this month. We hosted 2 groups at our place so far, 2 more to go. Roger will be having a young adults' camp and Christmas activities to co-ordinate in which he would need to prepare for 2 talks.

Pray with us as we pack (for Sydney), cook (as we host our friends) and study (Roger needs to work on 6 chapters of Greek language study before he starts his intensive Greek week on the 23rd Jan.)

Pray with us too that we may find affordable accommodations near SMBC and providence in getting clearance for the many many nitty-gritty admin stuff (eg. student visa etc)

=)

Back on the roads again

Not as a predestrain or passenger, but as a driver! *GASP*

I have not driven a car in 8 years. All thanks to my poor driving skills which led to a near-accident shortly after I passed my driving test. The near-accident left me with a bad phobia and hence I avoided driving like a plague. However, with the prospect of staying in the suburbs of Sydney in the near future and with shops far away from where we may stay. I cannot avoid driving anymore. *GLUP*

Went for my first drive in 8 years on Sunday. I prayed that God will keep us safe. Dad sat next to me as I drove, and by the time we headed by home, his face was green and said he seriously needed to eat some 惊风糁 (herbs that will ease anxiety). I took some turnings too fast and nearly hit a bus. Still, I thank God for keeping us safe... =)

Roger failed his driving test recently. God willing, he will take his test on the 5th Jan 07, a few days before we depart. Please pray that he'll get his license so that there be one less thing to prepare for when we get to Sydney. Pray too for me that I drive better and safer. Thanks!

Sydney in another 2 months?

*Faint*

Trying to relocate in 2 months is rather out of this world. Tentative plan is to reach Sydney on the 8th Jan 07. We're still waiting for the college's acceptance. Only then can we proceed to do the other admin, eg. apply for student visa, rent out our flat, buy tickets etc etc....

We told our parents of the news, they have their concerns about us living there but they are getting used to the idea and have been trying to get involved with the preparations. We're really thankful for the generous help given by them and our siblings-in-Chirst, in Singapore and in Sydney. From checking out apartments to gathering winter clothes for us. We are truly blessed.

Please pray for us that we may make wise decisions. Pray too for our parents that they may come to trust in Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
